Dr Chiang Shang-yi appointed to newly created role

22 November 2022, Taipei, Taiwan – Hon Hai Technology Group (“Foxconn”) (TWSE:2317) has named respected Taiwanese semiconductor veteran Dr Chiang Shang-yi to be the Group’s Semiconductor Strategy Officer.

In this newly created role, Dr Chiang’s rich experience in the semiconductor industry will provide Hon Hai invaluable support for the Group’s global semiconductor deployment strategy and technical guidance.

“The Group will certainly benefit from Dr Chiang’s outstanding contributions,” said Hon Hai Chairman and CEO Young Liu. “We are grateful to have such a seasoned semiconductor veteran join us at this important juncture in the Group’s development.”

Dr Chiang will be directly responsible to Chairman Liu; the appointment is effective immediately.

Since he first returned to Taiwan in 1997, Dr Chiang has been one of the most important champions of Taiwan’s semiconductor technology development from micron generation to the nanometer generation. In the early 2000s, the technical team Dr Chiang led laid the foundation for Taiwan’s leadership in the technology industry and he is hailed as key figure in Taiwan’s ability to maintain its semiconductor competitive advantage.

After graduating from the Electrical Engineering Department at National Taiwan University, Dr Chiang pursued further education in the United States. He received his master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University in 1970 and his PhD from Stanford University in 1974.
