EV manufacturer visits Lordstown Elementary School to drop off f - WFMJ.com
Representatives from Foxconn dropped off a large donation at Lordstown Elementary this afternoon, all to support a program that makes sure kids have something to eat.
More than $1,000 in food items including juice, oatmeal, apple sauce and chips were donated for the school’s backpack program.
“We provide them with foods that are easy. They can have granola bars and fruit snacks and mac and cheese cups and things that are just easy for the kids to be able to prepare themselves if they need to,’ said Deanna Meese, a school counselor.
About 25% of the elementary school children utilize the backpack program, meaning 47-50 bags of food go into kids backpacks every week.
Meese reached out to the company about the program, and Olivia Bundy, with Foxconn, says the company saw it as an opportunity to give back.
“This isn’t a onetime deal. We will be here to support at least twice a year,” Bundy said.
